Acupuncture Orthopedics and Bells - from Brain Talk Communities Online
"I recently took a course in Acupuncture Orthopedics which basically is treating muscle/skeletal disorders (and organ dysfunction as well) using special techniques with acupuncture along with trigger points or tight tender points in order to release muscle and realign the skeletal structure. One of the things I learned is that the SCM muscle in the neck will cause the eye to tear when it is tight. The really great thing about this form of acupuncture is that it really helps normalize tight muscles, muscles that no longer 'remember' how to release on their own which is something that can happen with Bell's Palsy over time. I was used as a class demo when we did the anterior aspect (front of the body). I felt a difference with the tightness in my face, the symmetry of my eye, as well as the tearing! I have also used some of the points on myself that are easy for me to get to and have seen good changes. They do use many of the traditional Chinese points as well, but with a focus on the person's individual pattern of tightness and trigger points."
Comments from previous attendees:
"After practicing and studying various styles of neuromusculoskeletal and orthopedic acupuncture, I found the Acupuncture Orthopedics courses did the best job of fusing together aspects of meridian therapy, myofascial release and physical assessment into a very user friendly, effective way to treat stubborn chronic conditions. I received many new insights in treating common ailments, such as releasing iliopsoas and rectus abdominus muscle tension for low back pain, and I was able to immediately incorporate many of the techniques into my practice. My clinical results are noticeably better. The handouts were clear and information packed and I use them on a regular basis in my clinic". D. Lerner, L. Ac., Seattle, WA.
"Thank you so much for a wonderful seminar. It was one of the best I have ever attended! You offered a useful program, in an easy format, and offered good examples. The case studies and class treatments are very good resources. I have used them already. I am looking forward to the next portion and to seeing you again." Linda C. D'Agostino, RN, R. Ac, Dipl. OM, Pennsylvania
"I found the review of anatomy, especially the hands-on stuff and demonstrations very useful. The evaluation of ROM, posture and gait were good along with the supporting diagrams and pictures. The instructors clearly knew the material well and it came across as second nature." A. Brown. L. Ac. West Virginia.
"The most wonderful course on acupuncture I've ever taken. Changed the way i practice and a real inspiration at a time i really needed it. Opened up the physical body for me in a way my TCM training never did. When i practice now, i feel that every point has a tangible purpose that i both know and my clients can feel. It has given me the confidence to treat many conditions that i felt TCM alone couldn't address. I love the fact that the course preserved what i love most about TCM while adding a very effective and much needed physical component to treatment. Thank you". "I want to thank you in every possible way for the time you took to develop this material, for the way you taught it, and for the extraordinary attention you gave to those of us in class. I hope a partial reward will be your knowledge that you are providing an invaluable opportunity to those fortunate enough to be there." P. Price, L. Ac., Baltimore, MD
"I enjoyed this class very much. Both instructors are highly knowledgeable in all aspects of Acupuncture tecniques, theories and anatomy, plus bring alot of practical experience to the course. I experienced Acupuncture Orthopedics treatments prior to taking this course and received excellent results for an acute musculoskeletal condition. That is what sparked my interest in this modern form of acupuncture. I would recommend this course and style of treatment to anyone interested in Acupuncture." David Chung, Acupuncturist, Toronto, Canada
"It is refreshing to approach acupuncture treatments in this manner. Course content was comprehensive yet concise and to the point. Instructors are very knowledgeable in this area. A very genuine way to combine the east and west method to approach a treatment. I enjoyed the course and it made me review and revisit my own approach."
