ACUPUNCTURE-ET-AL PRESENTS
Acupuncture Orthopedics – Posterior Treatment Strategies
A musculoskeletal acupuncture approach to pain and organ dysfunction
June 13 & 14, 2009
14 NCCAOM PDA’S
Tarrytown, NY
Acupuncture Orthopedics expands classical TCM theory and treatment approaches to include “western” biomedical techniques (Orthopedic, Myofascial and Trigger Point therapies) to impact pain, soft tissue injuries, Zang/Fu organ syndromes and structural function. It draws from Classical Chinese and Japanese Acupuncture Meridian Theory, the Trigger Point work of Dr. Janet Travell, Acupuncture Physical Medicine (developed by Dr. Mark Seem) and Western anatomical evaluation tools.
Course content includes TCM assessment, Eight Extraordinary Meridian Theory, Trigger and Motor point evaluation and uses, Huato point usage, Assessment of the musculoskeletal system for postural dysfunctions, compensations, normal muscle integrity and range of motor and how to incorporate this information into an acupuncture protocol.
The Practitioner will learn to create an effective acupuncture protocol that addresses both the root causes AND the soft tissue, visceral and structural manifestations, utilizing a meridian perspective in conjunction with a musculoskeletal overview. These skills will improve the practitioner’s ability to treat both traditional organ syndromes and soft tissue problems, as knowledge of the biomechanical aspects of the musculoskeletal system and how to impact it through acupuncture will lead to more effective and permanent results.
Acupuncture Orthopedics: Posterior Treatment Strategies focuses on the anatomy and meridian circuits that traverse the back of the body.
